About

Fortland Productions is synonymous with it’s founder, Nick Girard.

Nick is a Director + Producer; working directly with agencies, internal marketing teams and productions companies.

Nick specializes in Documentary Style Storytelling; applying the core principles of documentary work to lifestyle content, branded content and advertisements for brands.

With Nick at the head, Fortland as a company, scales it’s approach to reach the goals of each client. One production could have a skeleton crew of a writer/producer paired with a director/cinematographer. While another production could have a 15 person crew working to accomplish the clients goals for video + photography in tandem.

Fortland Productions took home a 2019 Reggie Award and was a Shorty Award Finalist for the video Nick directed for The Truth titled “Not Happy Or Healthy”. Nick was also the Director of Photography on the feature length film, We The People: The Market Basket Effect. “This documentary’s message speaks for itself, and the production value reflects the priority of getting it across…the story is provided by the real time footage of the protests that they were opportunistic in capturing, sensing that a momentous occurrence in social history was taking place,” says Under The Radar Magazine.

Fortland Productions is based in Santa Fe, NM.

Whats with the name Fortland?

"As a kid I was obsessed with building forts. They gave me an opportunity to create a special place for my friends, my family, and myself. They could be built anywhere: the forest behind our house in Washington State, the desert beyond our fence in Phoenix, Arizona, the enormous mounds of snow we tunneled through at Lake Tahoe, or even the back seat of a car during a road trip. In my life, there was always a land of forts—a place of creativity and adventure. A place where magic was possible. The name "Fortland" originates from these times and places where imagination ran wild. Now with every project I create, I tap into that part of my life." - Nick
